First test has been performed with the Jaw Crusher at a gap setting of 4.0. With this setting, about 59 % of sample > 8 mm use to be found in the collecting vessel of the Jaw Crusher.

These sample can be separated by sieving or sifting and can be fed a second time (possibly with lower gap position).

16,5 % of sample use to be between 1,4 mm and 8 mm as desired. 24,5 % of sample use to be too fine.

If metal contact should be avoided, also lateral support walls and crushing jaws made of zirconium oxide are available. Feeding funnel can be manufactured in plastic as well.

With the Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13 and a gap setting of 8 mm, the complete sample has been ground within 20 seconds. Afterwards, the total sample has been sieved with our Vibratory Sieve Shaker ANALYSETTE 3 and test sieves as desired. About 58,5 % of sample remains > 8 mm and can be used for a second grinding with lower gap setting.

About 28,4 % of sample has been ground < 1,4 mm.

Also with the Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13, grinding disks made of zirconium oxide are available. Also a plastic coating of the grinding chamber is available on request if metal contact should be avoided.

The particles which use to be > 8 mm from the first Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13 result have been used for this trail.

It took about 15 seconds of grinding until these particles have been ground with a passed a gap setting of 6 mm.

Afterwards, about 14,4 % of sample is not able to pass the 8 mm test sieve and already 42,4 % of sample use to be < 1,4 mm. For this, now 43,2 % of sample use to be in the range between 1,4 and 8 mm (as desired).
