For a grinding of 50 g as desired, a 50 ml grinding set will be suitable. If no further analysis of iron would be performed, also grinding sets made of steel would be suitable for this kind of application.

After 2 minutes of grinding, the desired fineness of 100 % < 100 µm has been achieved. Longer grinding times are still possible to achieve a finer result.

The second sample has been ground equally to result 1. This time, the machine has been stopped after a total grinding time of 4 minutes.

A fineness of 100 % < 80 µm has been determined. Because sample lightly starts to stick to the grinding set, we are guessing that a further reduction in size will only be possible by grinding in suspension.
